Bond 31: A creative hub for making theatre in Hull

Middle Child’s new home is in the Bond 31 warehouse on High Street in Hull.

Our creative hub includes a rehearsal space, theatre library, writing room and hot desk space, all free to use for residents of Hull and the East Riding.

Our space spans two suites running the length of the warehouse, which is also shared by other creative organisations, including State of the Arts Academy and Studio McGuire.

It includes an accessible toilet, two kitchen spaces and a Zoom meeting room.

Access

Level access is available throughout our space, including a lift to move between the two suites, which are on slightly different levels.

Entrance to the building is down a cobbled alleyway, off High Street. Flat paving runs down either sides of the cobbles and Hull Museums have produced a map of a route, following smooth surfaces and drop kerbs, along the length of High Street.

Rehearsal Room

Our spacious, light and airy rehearsal room, complete with a dance mat floor, is available to hire for free when not in use by Middle Child.

Hire includes access to an adjoining kitchen space and use of a meeting room as a breakout space, pending availability.

The room is available during Middle Child opening hours (Tue-Fri, 9am-5pm). Please email Emily Anderton to request a booking, with at least one week’s notice, including as many of the below details as possible:

Our Writing Room is another space available to hire for free, adjacent to our Theatre Library.

The room includes a table, chairs and sofa, with soft lighting, making it an ideal retreat for focusing on your latest draft.

The Writing Room is available during regular Middle Child opening hours (Tue-Fri, 9am-5pm).

Theatre Library

Our Theatre Library is a collection of over 2,000 scripts and reference books, available to borrow for free, to any resident of Hull and the East Riding.

The library is open during our regular office hours, Tuesday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.00pm.

See our separate page for more details about our library.

Hot Desking

We have a number of hot desking spaces, with access to free superfast wifi, next door to our Theatre Library.

These are available on an ad hoc basis, provided our room isn’t already in use, and during our regular open hours (Tue-Fri, 10am-6pm).

Feel free to pop by if you’re in the city centre, or give us a ring or message us on social media to check first.

If we are closed or unavailable, we recommend the Wonky Tulip cafe, a few doors down.

We do not operate a booking system for this service.
