Christmas 2023. A full moon is a-rising. Trouble is on the way…
Red Riding Hood and granny, Pattie Breadcake, have their hands full at the Buns of Steel bakery.
The people of Hull depend on their delicious free food, but the bakery stands in the way of Baroness Scrimp’s evil empire.
Enter news reporter Rupert Scaremonger, famed hunter Colonel Blowhard and a werewolf on the streets of Hull. Awoooo!
Will Red Riding Hood and Pattie Breadcake see off Scrimp’s wicked ways? Or will her beastly plan make for soggy bottoms at the Buns of Steel?
Find out in Hull’s alternative Christmas night out, featuring live music and raucous comedy from the award-winning Middle Child.
First performed in 2011, our alternative panto is a homegrown hit, with a different story chosen every year by our audience.
Catch us down Humber Street this Christmas to join the gang and kickstart a new tradition.
Running time: 2hrs, including an interval
Age guidance: 18+. The late-night show is the same script as the family version, with a few more adult-only jokes and ad libs from the cast. ID may be required for late-night shows and anyone under the age of 18 will not be admitted.
Lights and sound: contains flashing lights and a disco ball, but no strobes, with loud, amplified live music.
All performances feature integrated audio description, in which actions are described within the characters’ dialogue. Listen to Pattie Breadcake’s audio description intro below to learn more about the set, characters and costumes.
All of our performances are relaxed, meaning that noise and movement is welcome during the show. However we do not offer quiet performances and this production contains amplified music.
