Rachael Abbey

Regional Theatre Young Director Scheme Intensive Residency Director

Rachael, also known as Rabbey, is Middle Child’s RTYDS placement during spring/summer 2024. She will work as assistant director on their upcoming show Baby, He Loves You, and will be heavily involved in the pilot new writing festival, Fresh Ink.

Rabbey is a northern theatre maker, who often focuses on autobiographical narratives. She has previously been a core artist with sci-art company Unlimited Theatre and founded Hull-based company The Roaring Girls. Currently, she is also doing a PhD in the barriers to representation in stand-up comedy.
Her work is always people-led, looking to ensure that everyone in the process is heard and valued, whether it is as a rehearsal process, an R&D or 1:1 mentoring. Usually she works as a writer, performer or dramaturg and is currently developing herself as a director.

Rabbey is a fat, white person with light auburn, collarbone length hair and a fringe.
