Tom Wells lives in Hull.

Plays include: Me, As A Penguin (West Yorkshire Playhouse / Arcola); The Kitchen Sink (Bush Theatre) which won the Critics Circle Award for Most Promising Playwright and the George Devine Award; Jumpers For Goalposts (Paines Plough / Watford Palace / Hull Truck); Cosmic (Script Club); Folk (Birmingham Rep / Watford Palace / Hull Truck); and Broken Biscuits (Paines Plough / Live Theatre). Other writing includes: the short film Ben & Lump (Channel 4); the afternoon play Jonesy (Bbc Radio 4); pantos for the Lyric, Hammersmith and Middle Child; and book and lyrics for the musical Drip (Script Club) with music by Matthew Robins. Tom is currently under commission to The Drum Plymouth, Birmingham Rep, NT Connections, the Royal Court, and the National Theatre.

Tom has run the Introduction to Playwriting for the Royal Court, edited the LGBT+ zine Lost Property for Hull 2017, is a mentor for Graeae’s Write To Play, and is leading the Middle Child Writers’ Group.
