Library Talks

There’s a lot to talk about and make sense of in the world right now and Middle Child are here to provide a safe space in which to do so.

On the first Friday of every month our Theatre Library will bring people together to tackle a hot topic from world news, the theatre industry or our home city.

Part-workshop, part-fireside chats these sessions will ask the big questions with no expectations of finding simple answers. There will be tea, biscuits and DMCs.

Previous topics have included Spotlight, freelance performer contracts with Equity, the future of new writing and art and the climate crisis. Library Talks will return in January 2024.

How to start an actors cooperative

How to Start an Actors’ Co-op

Friday 1 March, 11.30am-1.15pm
(This session has been moved from the original date of Friday 9 February)

‘Securing an agent’ is often top of New Year to-do lists for actors, but what alternatives are there to the traditional model?

Our latest Library Talk, led by performer Madeleine MacMahon, is for actors interested in the co-operative model to find out more about how it works, and what the benefits could be for those living and working in Hull. Come along and find out more, and perhaps start a revolution in representation in the city.

Our Library Talks are free to attend, we just ask that you RSVP using our online form, so we know how many people to expect.
