Finance and Operations Manager

As finance and operations manager, Emily is part of the executive team and is responsible for the day-to-day management of Middle Child.

Financial responsibilities including bookkeeping, payments, payroll, management accounts, preparing, managing and reconciling budgets, cashflow and preparing information for the end of year accounts.

Emily leads on the governance of the company and is also company secretary. She works closely with the board of trustees, organises meetings and produces papers for quarterly board meetings, as well as company filing with the Charity Commission and Companies House.

Emily also manages Middle Child HQ, in Hull where there are offices, rehearsal spaces, meeting rooms and a plays library.

Emily has a BA (Hons) Degree in Stage Management and Technical Theatre. After graduating she spent five years working as a technician at Hull Truck Theatre before going freelance after having her first child. She has professional experience as a lighting designer, stage manager and 10 years’ experience as a production manager.

Emily became Middle Childs full-time general and production manager in April 2018, when they joined the Arts Council national portfolio. Since then, she has taken on various responsibilities as the company developed and in April 2023 her role was changed to finance and operations manager.

Recent qualifications include AAT Level 2 in Accounting and First Aid at Work.
